Remember the Red Hot Chili Peppers song "Under the Bridge"? That's probably what this person was singing while drinking this one. I found it under the disgusting bridge on Blue Island, right before you get into Pilsen while walking my dog. He was trying to lick the remaining contents up. Even he knew that it was a shame to let any of it go to waste.

So this is down the street from the PJ's, but it's also right near some $350k condos. Your guess is as good as mine as to who it belongs.

Our first submission! The story goes, after a few drinks on the day of the St. Paddy's day parade in Chicago, our buddy Ryan was waiting for the bus in Humboldt. Risking it all, he lept into action when he saw the 211 staring up from the grass.

Now if you know Humboldt, you know this shit is real. Walk around there at nite and you'll be introduced to the other kind of ste(e)al, and usually will say goodbye to your wallet or girlfriend. While that kind of steel is lethal, the liquid in this bottle can be just as deadly. Ryan didn't find any bodies nearby, but I can assure you, whoever drank this was trying to kill himself. Only crazy ass people looking to die would get blasted on Steel Reserve in Humboldt Park. I pour one out for you, buddy.

If you like video games, smoking pot, drinking, grandparents doing things more awesome than you, or most of Ashton Kutchers early works, you probably already have seen the classic Grandma's Boy. Most likely found in your local Wal-Marts bargain bin, this film from 2006 starring Allen Covert (does Hollywood have one hit wonders?) is important for the following reason:

Doris Roberts slamming a delicious Steel Reserve. Known for her roll in National Lampoons Christmas vacation, she shows no mercy when it comes to kicking back the ol' 211. Does your grandma do this? Probably not, bitch.

One more reason Hollywood is better than real life.

Why Steel Reserve?

The 211 mark, based on the medivel symble for steel, appears only on Steel Reserve high gravity lager.

Through an unfortunate incident involving said beverage, a bicycle, a car and a hospital, I now hold a high respect for this premium liquor. So much so that every time I see an empty can on the ground, I hold a new level of respect for not only the drinker, but the manufacturers of this liquid death pill.

To survive a nite, imbibing only the smoothest of lagers, brewed for a minimum of 28 days, takes not only courage, but strong will.

It is now my duty to photograph evidence of these heroes. Cataloging their exploits is not only a challenge, as finding a Steel Reserve can on the ground is not only rare (due to the courage it takes to pick it up off the shelf), but also requires a keen eye to spot it's silver casing amongst the filth of the streets.

I, the man of steel, present to you...Steel Reserve.
